Vinyl
laminates are well adapted for forming on most strip or coil fed
rolling equipment. Care should be exercised in roll design to minimize
severe rubbing action at high forming pressures and contacts with
sharp roll edges that might cut the vinyl.
Deep
Drawing
Corner
radii to depth of draw should not exceed a 1 to 5 ratio except in
special cases and depending on the size and shape of the part.
Drawing
compounds should be sulphur-free-Maaco 23 is recommended.
Interior
of draws should be single coat paint or vinyl laminate
Avoid
lineal pattens if distortions at corners resulting from the draw
are objectionable.
Shallow
angle sides should be avoided if possible. Vertical or near vertical
is best.
Stamping,
Notching, Shearing, Bending & Blanking
Equipment
and tooling suitable for sheet metal fabrication are essentially
identical for vinyl metal laminates. Clean work areas and reasonable
care during handling, transfer and storage will prevent scratching
or gouging of the durable vinyl clad surface. Conventional lubricants
for forming and stamping can be used provided they do not require
solvents for cleaning.

QUICK
TIPS:
|
- Material
should be at room temperature for punching and bending (70
degrees F or higher)
- Allow
for total material thickness (vinyl included) when setting
tolerances
- Do
not drag full sheets or sheared blanks over the decorative
surface of another sheet or blank unless it has protective
masking on the surface.
- Material
ordered without optional protective masking should be stacked
vinyl surface to vinyl surface throughout shop movement
/ operations
